WHITE RICE

INGREDIENTS

- 1 ½ cup white rice

- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 

- 1 teaspoon salt 

- 1 teaspoon garlic powder or semoulé

- 1 ½ cup filtered water 

OPTIONAL:

- ½ cup green peas 

- ½ cup corn

- ½ cup chopped red pepper 

 

PREPARATION

First, wash the rice until almost all the starch is removed (the water should be clear), turn on the rice cooker and add 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 1 teaspoon  salt, mix everything and stir fry, add the rice, mix with the garlic mixture and leave it for a few minutes, until it is warm, add 1 ½ cups filtered water, mix and cook for 15 minutes aprox.

When the water has disappeared, the rice is ready. At this moment remove the lid, use a large fork and start to scratch the rice until you do it all, this way you are separating the grains so they don’t stick to each other. Leave it uncovered for 5’ before serving.

TIPS

- As soon as the rice is cooked, it is important to remove the lid so the steam leaves and the rice doesn’t continue cooking.

- For a variation you can add green peas, corn kernels, red pepper, edamame. They can be frozen or fresh, but make sure to add them after the water . Only the red pepper needs to be added at the end as it is softer.
