CAUSA DE ATÚN
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg yellow potato (or any potato variety for mashing)
- 2 tablespoons of yellow chili paste(optional)
- 3 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 can tuna filets (130-150grs)drained
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- Dash of salt
- Dash of pepper
PREPARATION
First, cook 1 Kg potatoes in a pot full of water, for 35 minutes approximately or when inserting a fork it feels tender .At this moment, remove from the pot and peel immediately. Mash the potatoes while they are still warm, using a potato masher or large fork. Then , add 2 tablespoons of yellow chili pepper paste, 3 tablespoons lime juice, 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, a dash of salt and pepper.For this step, you can use your hands to mix everything, that way you can feel if it is smooth enough and can press or remove hard lumps In a separate bowl, add 1 can drained tuna and 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise, mix well with a fork, set aside. Now, in a square shaped container, lay half of the mashed potato mixture, spread with the tuna preparation on top of it, and cover with another layer of the potato mixture. Finally, decorate with mayonnaise, egg slices, black olives and it’s ready!

TIPS
You can use white potato instead of yellow potato , but make sure it is a puree variety. .
If you don’t have a potato masher, you can use a large fork.
It is very important to mash the potatoes while they are still warm, otherwise they will become hard to work with.

You can replace tuna with threaded chicken breast, crab meat or fish.
