EASY CAT CAKE TUTORIAL
INGREDIENTS
Cake
- 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 whole eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 3 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 5 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- ¼ cup sprinkles
Icing
- 2/3 cups egg whites
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 lime (just the juice)
- Dash of salt

PREPARATION
Beat the butter until creamy on the electric mixer at high speed. Add the sugar as rain, continue beating on high speed, until the ingredients are blended together and we have a smooth creamy batter. At this point, add 4 eggs one by one, beating well after each addition.
Now, we are going to sift together our dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt) , using a sifter over a shallow bowl. We are going to repeat the sifting three times. Reserve ¼ cup of the flour mixture and add the sprinkles to it, reserve on the side. Measure the milk and leave it aside. Now we will start adding the sifted dry ingredients to our batter, starting with the flour, alternating with the milk, so we add flour, mix with spatula, add milk, mix and repeat. At the end we add the flour mixed with the sprinkles and just blend with the batter and it’s ready ! Don’t overmix.
Use two different sizes of round shaped molds, spread butter lightly and sprinkle flour over it to avoid the butter sticking. Also we will need 4 muffins for the paws and ears.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30 minutes. Check if it is ready with a skewer or toothpick, it has to come out clean , without batter stick on it , then it is ready. The smaller mold will be ready before the larger one. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a rack for 10’.
After 10’ remove from the mold, you can use a knife to pass it around the cake and then cover with the rack and flip it over. Let it cool completely before icing.
Icing:
Beat together 2/3 cup egg whites, until it forms peaks, add 1 cup powdered sugar, Juice of 1 lime and a dash of salt. Beat until it looks like a meringue and keeps the shape, if necessary you can add more sugar.
Decorating:
First we will cut 2 muffins in half , using each half for each paw. For the ears we will cut each muffin in a triangular shape and place them at the top. Now, we are covering all the cake with the icing using a flat spatula.. Finally, for the eyes and mouth we will use “Smarties” , for the bow, a Hershey’s chocolate bar, we make the tail with “Kit kat” , more kit kat on the ears and feet. For the mustache we use chocolate coated pretzel sticks and it’s ready!!

TIPS
You can make a cake base with a wooden board covered in aluminum foil and dollies.
Allow the cake to cool down completely before decorating.
It’s better to use butter and eggs at room temperature
When you pour the batter in the molds, leave 1 in from the top edge free. Don’t fill them completely; they can overflow while cooking.
