POTATO & BEEF PIE

INGREDIENTS

- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

- 500g ground beef 

- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

- 1 teaspoon garlic powder

- 1/2 cup tomato sauce

- 1 cup yellow corn (frozen or fresh)

- 1 cup peas (frozen or fresh)

- Dash of mild paprika

Mashed potatoes:

- 3 cups boiled water

- 4 teaspoons butter

- 1 Box mashed potatoes (215grs)

- 1 cup milk 

PREPARATION

First preheat the oven to 400ºF.

Place 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil in the rice cooker, add 500 g ground beef, add 1 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper and 1 teaspoon garlic powder, break and mix the meat with a wooden spoon and turn the rice cooker to ON position and cook for 15 minutes. Then add 1/2 cup of tomato sauce, continue to break the meat and cook for 5 more minutes. After this time, disconnect the rice cooker, remove the liquid that comes out of the meat. Turn on the rice cooker again, add 1 cup of corn and 1 cup of peas, stir all and cook for 5 more minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the mashed potatoes that come dehydrated in a package, in a bowl pour 3 cups boiled water, 4 teaspoons butter, add the dehydrated mashed potatoes, stir very well, add 1 cup cold milk, stir very well again and it is ready.

Finally, grease an oven proof dish with some butter, put the meat mixture previously prepared, then add the mashed potatoes on top with the help of a wooden spoon, flatten uniformly and sprinkle some mild paprika, cook in the oven at 400ºF for 20 minutes.

  • Let the preparation set for 10 minutes before you serve.

  • In this recipe you can use frozen or fresh yellow corn and peas.
