MEATLOAF

 INGREDIENTS

- 500 g ground beef 

- 1/2 cup  quick cooking rolled oats

- 1/2 cup tomato sauce + 1/4 cup to coat (Tomato Basil spaghetti sauce)

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1 teaspoon garlic powder

- 1 teaspoon dry oregano

- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

- 1 egg

- 1 red onion (finely chopped)

- 1/2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

- Green Salad (lettuce, cucumber, spinach, etc.)

PREPARATION

First: Mix 500 g of ground beef in a bowl, 1/2 cup  oats, add 1/2 cup  tomato sauce and season with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/4 teaspoon of ground pepper, 1 egg and finally 1 

onion finely chopped.  Mix with a wooden spoon until all  ingredients are blended together.

On the other hand,  preheat the oven for 15 minutes at 350ºF. Meanwhile, brush  a rectangular non-stick pan,  with 1/2 tablespoon olive oil (to avoid sticking). Pour the meat preparation into the pan, flatten with a silicone spatula and coat with 1/4 cup tomato sauce spreading with the brush. Place in the center of the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes at 350ºF.  We can check if it is ready by inserting a metal stick, when it comes out dry it means it is well done. Once it is ready, we leave it to set for 10 minutes. Then, we will pass a rubber or silicone spatula all around to separate the meatloaf from the pan. Finally, we flip it over a serving dish, slice and serve. Accompany it with a green salad: (lettuce, cucumber, spinach ), mashed potato, rice or as you prefer.

TIPS

  • The exact size of the nonstick pan is 20 cm x 10 cm.

  • You can mix all the ingredients using your hands

  • To remove the smell of onion from your hands you can use a stainless steel “soap”. Sold in @amazon by  @amco rub-a-way bar.

  • Also you can prepare a sandwich with a piece of meatloaf, lettuce and tomato.
